I met my girlfriend six months after the full-scale invasion started. She was in western Ukraine, I was in the US. The war made everything more serious, more urgent. She wasn’t interested in games. I wasn’t either. We moved faster than I would have in normal circumstances — because the circumstances weren’t normal.

Whatever site you use, move to video chat early. I had one site look fine on the surface, but half the “women” wouldn’t even do a quick call, which told me everything.
